Tovolo Silicone Spatula
The Tovolo silicone spatula is one of my most used tools in my kitchen. Its has a scooper on one end and a spreader on the other end.
The scooping part is what I use most, but the spreader part comes in handy too. The flexible, but strong and heat-resistant silicone material is great for pushing down the sides of blenders when making condiments like the luscious vegan butter and silky vegan Hollandaise. Unlike rubber spatulas, it doesn’t get stuck on the sides of blender cup. It moves smoothly on surfaces and gets all of the sauce clean from the sides of whatever container you are using.
Originally the large size was given to me as a gift and I liked it so much I bought the smaller size. I like the larger size for when I am making sauces and condiments in a blender (to push down the sides of the blender or blender cup). The mini size is perfect for getting tomato paste out of cans and moving to your pan or moving the remainder to a glass container for storage. They are also good for getting that last bit of mustard or nut butter from the jar. These silicone scoop and spread spatulas are one of those “must-haves” in the kitchen. Now I buy them as gifts for my cooking friends and family.
They don’t last forever though, so it’s good they are inexpensive as they need to be replaced every so often depending on how much use they get.
